ABOUT SUKHAVA
SUKHAVA is the brainchild of Dr. Sanjay Gaikwad with a vision to promote happiness and good health in winter’s of one’s lives.
India’s demographic dividend is on a rise with 103 million people falling into the oldage category. According to a report by Agewell foundation, it was found that around 65 percent of this population is either facing abuse or higher rates of dependency or facing major financial crisis.
To deliver assistance to our old populace, our SUKHAVA old age home offers to cater to their needs with a fun and holistic approach that makes them independent, happy and their declining years enjoyable.
In year-2013 we have established our Sukhava vrudhashram and care center in kolhapur, Maharashtra.
In our old age home, we promise to deliver them with a home for old age people along with adequate Nursing and Medical care facilities assisted by professional doctor care and 24*7 vigilance. This is combined with some recreational activities. For this, we decided to form “बाळाई-लळाई चॅरिटेबल ट्रस्ट” which is a nonprofitable organization that aims to provide them with the required facilities under one roof, that include:
(1) Care for old age people with food as per diet*.
(2) Ayurvedic Panchakarma Facility for newly paralyzed patients (day-care*).
(3) Basic physiotherapy treatment along with ayurvedic treatment for patients dealing with back problems.
(4) Acute and chronic pain management through Ayurvedic therapy.
(5)Recreational Activities that include bhajan keertans, movie nights, healthy discussions, festival and birthday celebrations along with prescribed exercises etc.
WHY OLD AGE HOME
India is facing a demographic dividend with 103 million people in the senior citizen category. According to the General assembly, there are UN principles for older people. These provide 18 entitlements to old people relating to
- Independence – where older people should have right to work, right of access to proper food, shelter, healthcare etc
- Participation – Right to participate in societies, movement etc.
- Care
- Self fulfillment
- Dignity
But as many old people are dependent on their children or other family members and are devoid of the right care and treatment during old age, places like OLD AGE HOMES provide them with proper assistance and care that helps them attain these UN principles.
They provide them with a second home where they are nurtured, provided with basic facilities and various recreational activities that keep them engaged and happy. These places are also responsible for looking after them 24*7 and provide nursing facilities (if any are needed).
